RediClinic Locations in Austin Added as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Network Providers

RediClinic locations in Austin are now in-network for the Top Five Commercial Health Insurance Carriers.


HOUSTON (January 29, 2009) – RediClinic LLC today announced that it has expanded its network participation agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas to include its Austin area clinics. This agreement now makes any RediClinic located in Texas an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield enrollees. Currently, RediClinics are located in six (6) H-E-B stores in the Austin area and fifteen (15) H-E-B stores in the Houston area. In addition, RediClinic is in-network with the four largest national commercial health insurance carriers – CIGNA, Aetna, Humana, and UnitedHealthcare.

RediClinics are in-store healthcare facilities that offer consumers easy access to high-quality, routine medical services at affordable prices. RediClinics are staffed by certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work with local physicians to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications for common medical conditions, such as earaches, strep throat and upper respiratory infections. They also administer a wide range of preventive services, including health screenings, flu shots and other vaccinations, and back-to-school and sports physical exams. RediClinics are open seven days a week (including most holidays) and offer extended hours on weekdays. Adults and children over age two are welcome, no appointments are necessary, and a typical visit takes about 15 minutes.

RediClinic uses the athenahealth electronic medical record system to facilitate, guide and document patient visits. This system ensures patient suitability to RediClinic’s limited scope of practice and continuity of care when other clinicians are involved.  Patients who cannot be treated at RediClinic, or who need ongoing treatment, are referred to their primary care provider, if they have one, or to other physicians in their communities.

RediClinic visits are covered by a growing number of national and regional health plans. However, RediClinic provides those who are covered by health plans that do not currently have agreements with RediClinic with specially formatted receipts that may be filed directly with their carrier for possible reimbursement. Because every plan can be different, members should always consult with their carrier to confirm that the services provided by RediClinic are covered.
