RediClinic Announces New Members Of
National Advisory Board for Clinical Quality
High-Quality Health Care Remains RediClinic’s #1 Priority
HOUSTON (September 20, 2006) – InterFit Health announced today
that its RediClinic division, provider of high-quality, non-emergency
medical services at affordable prices, has named two new members to
its National Advisory Board for Clinical Quality. Mary Campagnolo,
MD and Rhonda Anderson will serve on RediClinic’s National Advisory
Board for Clinical Quality, which was recently established to continue
to ensure that RediClinic protocols support the consistent delivery
of high-quality health care at every RediClinic location nationwide.
Mary Campagnolo, MD serves as a member of the National Committee on
Quality of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), is a
past president of the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians and
currently serves as a board director of the New Jersey Academy. Dr.
Campagnolo is respected nationally for her work on quality improvement
and quality assurance.
Rhonda Anderson serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the
Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO) and as the Chair of JCAHO’s Performance Measurement
Committee. Ms. Anderson is one of the country’s leading experts
on health care quality issues and specifically pay-for-performance
initiatives, having worked with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) in Washington, DC on pay-for-performance legislation
alongside CMS Administrator Mark B. McClellan, MD, PhD.
“Consumers want and need the convenient access to affordable
health care that in-store clinics provide, but the quality of this
care must meet the highest professional standards,” said Web
Golinkin, Chief Executive Officer of InterFit Health. “The additions
of Dr. Campagnolo and Ms. Anderson to RediClinic’s National
Advisory Board for Clinical Quality will help to ensure that we continue
to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.”
Founding members of the Advisory Board include representatives from
the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Academy
of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and American College of Nurse Practitioners
(ACNP). Other members of the Advisory Board include Samuel Ward Casscells
III, MD and Robert Rakel, MD. Dr. Casscells serves as the John Edward
Tyson Distinguished Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas
Health Science Center at Houston and is one of the nation's foremost
experts in preventative cardiology. Dr. Casscells also is a former
member of George W. Bush’s Healthcare Advisory Committee. Dr.
Rakel is the former Chairman of Family Medicine at Baylor College
of Medicine and recognized as one of America’s authorities on
family medicine.
“We are honored to have such a distinguished group of practitioners
on our National Advisory Board for Clinical Quality,” said Christopher
Kersey, MD, RediClinic’s Chief Medical and Business Development
Officer. “The Board will advise the company on the protocols,
policies, procedures, technologies, and systems we need to continue
delivering high-quality health care at all RediClinic locations as
we expand nationwide.”
InterFit Health currently operates 11 RediClinics nationwide with
retail partners H-E-B in Texas, Wal-Mart in Arkansas and Oklahoma,
and Duane Reade in New York. InterFit recently announced plans to
open 75 new RediClinics in the next 12 months and 500 new units by
2009, enabling the company to bring its convenient and affordable
non-emergency care to millions of consumers throughout the United
States. This expansion will occur partially through its existing retail
partnerships, as well as through a new partnership with Walgreens,
the nation’s largest drug store chain.
RediClinics are staffed by certified nurse practitioners who work
with local physicians to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications
for common medical conditions, such as strep throat and upper respiratory
infections. They also administer a wide range of preventive services,
including health screenings, medical tests, vaccinations and basic
physical exams. RediClinics are open seven days a week (including
most holidays) and offer extended hours on weekdays. Adults and children
over age two are welcome, no appointments necessary and a typical
visit takes about 15 minutes.
RediClinic’s certified nurse practitioners, who are registered
nurses with masters degrees, use a proprietary electronic medical
record system to document and guide patient visits. This system ensures
patient suitability to RediClinic’s limited scope of practice
and facilitates continuity of care when other clinicians are involved.
Patients who cannot be treated at RediClinic or who need ongoing treatment
are referred to their primary care provider, if they have one, or
to other physicians in their communities.
