RediClinic Knows How to Help Residents Ease Their Allergy Symptoms

Houston, TX (April 16, 2009) – According to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI), one in seven Americans suffer from seasonal allergies. Now, allergy sufferers needn’t look any further than RediClinic for convenient and affordable allergy care – from diagnosis and testing to effective treatment, now including steroid injections for allergy relief.

Pollens from grass, trees and weeds cause an overreaction of the immune system. This overreaction can cause uncomfortable symptoms such as sneezing, sniffling and watery, itchy eyes. Other more serious allergy symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, headaches, tightness in the chest and difficulty concentrating.

“For many sufferers, seasonal allergies are a minor annoyance, but for others they can be a cause for great concern,” said Web Golinkin, CEO, RediClinic. “RediClinic is the perfect destination for anyone experiencing allergy symptoms from a runny nose and itchy eyes to shortness of breath and headaches. All 21 of our locations in the greater Houston and Austin areas offer a wide variety of testing and treatment options, including steroid injections when they are medically appropriate.”

RediClinic offers patients three allergy testing package options – the basic package tests for twelve common allergens, plus regional environmental and food allergens and costs $69. The choice package tests an additional 90 allergens for $129, and the premier package tests 135 additional allergens and costs $189. Once an allergen is identified, clinicians will interpret test results and discuss treatment options.

“No matter which allergens affect you, RediClinic can help to relieve your symptoms,” said Golinkin. “Spring doesn’t have to be a season of suffering.”

In addition to being tested and treated for seasonal allergies, sufferers can help minimize exposure by following these simple steps:
Keep windows closed at night
Use air conditioning with filters
Keep car windows closed when traveling
Hang laundry to dry inside your home – laundry hung outside will capture wind-bound pollen
Limit early morning activity when pollen is usually emitted, between 5-10 a.m.
Do not mow lawns or be around freshly cut grass, as mowing stirs up pollens and molds
Stay indoors when pollen counts are high

RediClinics are in-store healthcare facilities staffed by certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work with local physicians to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications for common medical conditions, such as earaches, strep throat, and upper respiratory infections. RediClinic’s clinicians also administer a wide range of preventive services, including health screenings, flu shots and other vaccinations, and basic physical exams.

RediClinics are open seven days a week (including most holidays) and offer extended hours on weekdays. Adults and children over age two are welcome, no appointments are necessary, and a typical visit takes about 15 minutes.

RediClinic visits are covered by the five largest commercial health insurance carriers in Texas – Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield of Texas, CIGNA, Humana and UnitedHealthcare and a growing number of other third party payers. For those who do not have health insurance, or who are covered by a plan that does not have an agreement with RediClinic, all Get Healthy visits cost $75.00, including any instant diagnostic tests that may be required.
