RediClinic Accepts Humana
Co-pays
HOUSTON (September 27, 2006) – InterFit announced today that
its RediClinic division has entered into an agreement with Humana
(NYSE: HUM), one of the nation’s largest publicly traded health
benefits companies, that enables Humana members to use their co-pays
at RediClinic locations nationwide. RediClinics are in-store healthcare
facilities that give consumers easy access to high-quality, non-emergency
medical services at affordable prices.
“We are pleased that RediClinic’s services are now even
more affordable for Humana members,” said Web Golinkin, Chief
Executive Officer of InterFit Health. “This is another important
step in making high-quality, routine healthcare more convenient
and affordable for millions of consumers.”
All current RediClinic locations are covered by the Humana agreement,
including seven locations in HEB stores in Houston, Austin, and
San Antonio, Texas, three locations in Wal-Mart stores in Tulsa,
Oklahoma and Fayetteville, Arkansas, and one location in a Duane
Reade store in New York City. InterFit previously announced plans
to open 75 new RediClinics in the next 12 months and 500 by 2009,
including 16 new RediClinics that will open in Walgreens stores
in Atlanta later this Fall.
“The partnership between our organizations adds more choice
and convenience for our members,” said Steven Goldberg, corporate
medical director of clinical policy for Humana. “We are pleased
to partner with RediClinic to offer our health plan members expanded
choices for same-day evaluation of select common, minor complaints
in a convenient retail setting.”
RediClinics are staffed by certified nurse practitioners who work
with local physicians to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications
for common medical conditions, such as strep throat and upper respiratory
infections. They also administer a wide range of preventive services,
including health screenings, medical tests, vaccinations and basic
physical exams. RediClinics are open seven days a week (including
most holidays) and offer extended hours on weekdays. Adults and
children over age two are welcome, no appointments necessary and
a typical visit takes about 15 minutes.
RediClinic’s certified nurse practitioners, who are registered
nurses with masters degrees, use a proprietary electronic medical
record system to document and guide patient visits. This system
ensures patient suitability to RediClinic’s limited scope
of practice and facilitates continuity of care when other clinicians
are involved. Patients who cannot be treated at RediClinic or who
need ongoing treatment are referred to their primary care provider,
if they have one, or to other physicians in their communities.
