RediClinic® Selects Innovative Card Scanning® to Accelerate Patient Entry
Locations Across Houston and Austin Implement DocketPORT® Scanning Technology
June 1, 2009 (PLANO, TX) – Innovative Card Scanning, the leading developer and provider of insurance card and ID scanning solutions tailored for physician offices, hospitals, medical billers, pharmacies and retail clinics, today announced its latest collaboration with leading retail clinic chain, RediClinic. Innovative Card Scanning’s DocketPORT Scanning Technology is now in place at 21 RediClinic locations across Houston and Austin, TX, with plans for the scanning technology to be placed in future locations.

RediClinic was in search of a reliable solution to replace an existing system that wasn’t keeping up with its standard for quick, efficient information processing essential in the retail clinic process. It was vital that the new solution be compact and compatible with current software drivers and electronic medical records (EMR) system. Designed to integrate seamlessly into existing systems, the DocketPORT Scanning Technology easily replaced the existing hardware and was incorporated into RediClinic’s current imaging software, along with a EMR system provided by athenahealth®. Innovative Card Scanning was recommended to RediClinic by athenahealth for its ability to integrate quickly and easily for faster more accurate patient care, billing and insurance processing.
With the new system, Rediclinic patients have their insurance card and/or driver’s license immediately scanned upon the office visit, creating a secure electronic record that follows them throughout the billing process. The RediClinic billing department uses these files as a reference throughout the process to quickly confirm information accuracy or identify and correct any errors in-house. This eliminates the need for paper files or perform outside research to correct errors, and even saves payment and claims that would sometimes be lost due to insufficient contact information. Rediclinic will have the option to further upgrade to Innovative Card Scanning’s optical character recognition (OCR) technology, which will automatically extract patient data and populate it into their EMR system.
