Leaders of the Convenient Care Industry Gather to Discuss Trends Issues and Opportunities at First Retail Health Clinic Summit

PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 12, 2007) – A panel of industry leaders will gather in Philadelphia to participate in the first ever Retail Health Clinic Summit. Addressing the important healthcare services provided by RediClinic and other retail clinics throughout the country, the summit will focus on the industry’s evolving business opportunities and their impact on pharmaceutical companies as well as retailers and consumers.

The Retail Health Clinic Summit, presented by Drug Store News (DSN) and the Convenient Care Association (CCA), will offer RediClinic and seventeen of the industry’s most influential retail health clinic entrepreneurs the opportunity to discuss critical industry issues, business opportunities and best practices. Rosemarie Greco, director of The Governor’s Office of Health Care Reform for Pennsylvania, will address the summit to discuss Governor Ed Rendell’s health care reform plan, especially as it relates to the convenient care industry and nurse practitioners. “With Philadelphia’s rich history of firsts in healthcare, it’s very appropriate that this first industry summit is taking place here,” says Tine Hansen-Turton, Executive Director of he Convenient Care Association. “Governor Rendell’s administration has proposed a very promising agenda as far as the convenient care industry is concerned. To further demonstrate forward thinking, we are delighted that Rosemarie Greco will address the summit to discuss the governor’s plans to reform Pennsylvania’s healthcare system.”

Summit attendees will participate in two interactive convenient care executive panels which will serve to share the latest news and information on the retail health industry. This inaugural Summit is sponsored by Bayer Health Care, Glaxo Smith Kline, and Wyeth Consumer Healthcare.

The CCA is an association of convenient care clinics that provide accessible, affordable, quality health care throughout the United States. The CCA is dedicated to ongoing development of uniform protocols, implementing medical record sharing procedures, and offering recommendations, based on established best practices, for patient follow-up care. These health care clinics, based in high traffic retail stores and pharmacies, are primarily staffed by advanced practice nurses, including nurse practitioners (NP) and clinical nurse specialists (CNS). They may also be staffed by physician assistants (PA), and/or physicians (MD or DO).
