RediClinic Celebrates National Convenient Care Clinic Week
Convenient care clinics provide consumers with easier access to high-quality, routine health care at affordable prices
July 30, 2010 (HOUSTON, TX) – RediClinic is excited to announce that the week of Aug. 2 - 8 has been designated National Convenient Care Clinic Week. The week is intended to highlight the importance of convenient care clinics and board certified practitioners in offering affordable and convenient health care.
With high-quality, cost-efficient and accessible health care provided by these clinics both in the retail and worksite locations, convenient care clinics are well-positioned to take a more prominent role as more Americans receive access to health care and help to lower cost and improve patient outcomes. Research by the Convenient Care Association (CCA) indicates that convenient care clinics offer a critical access point for consumers who do not have established physician relationships and can help connect patients who need a primary physician.
“Our clinics are extensions to primary care, providing consumers with assistance related to common ailments, physicals, health screenings, vaccinations and preventive care,” said Dr. Susan Cooley King, Vice President of Clinical Services for RediClinic LLC. "Convenient care clinics are appealing to a growing number of people because of the extended hours during the weekday and the fact they are open on the weekends. This provides extreme convenience for individuals who can’t miss work or don’t have time to see their primary care physician during the regular work week.”
The number of convenient care patients is expected to increase as the new healthcare reform is activated. According to the CCA, an estimated 1,200 clinics across the country have served more than 15 million patients since the first convenient care clinic opened in 2000. According to a study by the RAND Corporation released in September 2009, nearly one-third of Americans live within about a 10-minute drive of a retail-based clinic.
With the arrival of the new school year and the upcoming flu season, convenient care clinics will make it easy and affordable for areas to take advantage of immunizations, vaccines and other health care services.
