RediClinics Debut in Richmond Inside
Wal-Mart Supercenters with Bon Secours Partnership
First Retail Clinics in Greater Richmond to Treat Common Conditions
and Provide Preventive Care
HOUSTON (March 29, 2007) – RediClinic
LLC announced today that it is opening nine convenient healthcare
clinics in leased space inside Richmond-area Wal-Mart Supercenters.
Eight of the clinics are already open and the ninth clinic will open
in April. RediClinics are in-store facilities that offer consumers
easy access to high-quality, routine healthcare services at affordable
prices.
“We are delighted to introduce the quality, affordability, and
convenience of RediClinic to residents of greater Richmond through
Wal-Mart Supercenters,” said Web Golinkin, chief executive officer
of RediClinic. “In connection with our Richmond launch, we are
offering $39 sports and camp physicals and our 7 Vital Tests for Women
package for just $15 so everyone can experience how easy and inexpensive
healthcare can be.”
RediClinics are staffed by certified nurse practitioners who work
with local physicians to diagnose, treat and prescribe medications
for common conditions, such as earaches, strep throat and upper respiratory
infections. They also administer a broad range of preventive services,
including health screening tests, vaccinations and basic physical
exams.
“At Wal-Mart, we know that family health and wellness is a high
priority for our customers and their families,” said Alicia
Ledlie, director of health business development for Wal-Mart Stores,
Inc. “In-store clinics like RediClinic provide consumers with
convenient and affordable access to basic healthcare, and we are excited
to bring this service to Richmond residents.”
RediClinics are open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday
9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adults and children
over age two are welcome, no appointments are necessary and a typical
visit takes about 15 minutes.
The clinic openings also launch an exclusive partnership between RediClinic
and Bon Secours Richmond Health System for the operation of all RediClinics
in the Greater Richmond area. In this partnership, Bon Secours provides
physician oversight to the nurse practitioners who staff the RediClinics.
“Bon Secours is the healthcare leader in Richmond, and we are
honored to be partnering with them here,” said Christopher Kersey,
chief business development officer and chief medical officer of RediClinic.
“RediClinic and Bon Secours share the common goals of improving
access to and affordability of quality healthcare in Richmond, so
it was logical that we would decide to collaborate.”
RediClinics use a proprietary electronic medical record system to
document and guide patient visits. This system ensures patient suitability
to a limited scope of practice and facilitates continuity of care
when other clinicians are involved. Patients who cannot be treated
at a RediClinic, or who need ongoing treatment, are referred to their
primary care provider. If they do not have their own provider, they
are referred to a Bon Secours affiliated physician or to another local
healthcare provider.
“We feel this relationship with RediClinic will help meet the
growing demand for basic medical services, thereby helping to improve
the overall healthcare environment in Richmond,” said Peter
Bernard, chief executive officer, Bon Secours Richmond Health System.
RediClinic charges a flat rate of $59 for Get Well services, and preventive
services start at $15. The company also accepts co-payments from members
of a growing number of insurance plans, including Aetna, CIGNA, Humana,
UnitedHealthcare and Medicare.
Customers with these insurance plans are charged the appropriate co-pay.
Those who are covered by health plans that do not currently have agreements
with RediClinic receive specially-formatted receipts that can be filed
for possible reimbursement. In addition, as a new initiative, RediClinic
will contract directly with selected Richmond employers to help them
increase healthcare access and affordability for their employees.
